Financial stress is hard, and often when it rains, it pours.  We all go through periods of prosperity and others when we are slammed from every direction with the things like furnaces, cars, medical bills or braces.  Carrie Rocha has written this book to help others change the way they think about and use their money so that we can weather these storms and not cause ourselves extreme anxiety.

If you are not familiar with Carrie, she has a blog, PocketYourDollars.com.  She's a pretty smart lady when it comes to these financial matters, but that wasn't always the case.  She had to dig herself out of a huge debt problem at one point.  The bright side of that is that she has taken everything she has learned from the experience and she graciously shares via her website, and now she has written this book.

To be honest, the book is fun to read.  There are questions, and points to ponder.  There are also quizzes, affirmations, and great pearls of wisdom.  I like how she weavers her own personal story throughout, and keeps the tone of the book conversational and friendly.  There is no judgement, no preachiness, just her advice.

Considering the current economy, this is a great book to pick up.  It will not give step by step instructions about how to get to a debt free life, put away savings, or find yourself in a financial comfort zone.  Instead, it gives advice on how to change your thoughts and current money practices - and THAT is what leads to these fantastic side effects.  She even discusses how to handle setbacks.

I think this is a great book for anyone looking to improve their spending habits and especially recommend this for those in significant debt.  There is hope!  Ms. Rocha was at one time in $50,000 of debt herself!  She knows your pain and wants to help.
