If you have a preteen child you may worry about the dangers that lie ahead for them, both physically and socially.  Unfotunately the world is hyper sexualized and there is a lot of pressure on our kids, but beyiond that there are other issues we didn't even have to consider at their age.  Consider the internet.  While it has made life easier for everyone, a child doing research for school, or even having fun is navigating a minefield.  The place they go for fun and socializing is rife with bullying, inappropriate images, and innocuous looking links that lead to adult websites.

Our children need good information and they need it presented clearly.  They also need to know that their parents are always available and they can come to us with hard questions or problems.

If you get sweaty palms thinking about having the talk with your kids, Family Life ministries can help.  More than 250,000 young people have used their Passport to Purity Getaway Weekend with their parents.  This program helps foster communication between parents and young people and it will also set a foundation for purity that can help your child in the difficult years ahead.

Ideally, it is designed for a father and son or a mother and a daughter to do in a weekend, but of course, if this is not possible, you can make adjustments as necessary.  The best age to use this is 11 or 12, but if your 10 year old is already asking questions, consider what is best for your child.  If your child is delayed emotionally or socially you may want to wait and use it when they are a little bit older.

The program is very easy to execute.  Every single thing you will need is listed.  Your book has all the answers and will help you facilitate projects and conversations.

Here is a short video that explains the concept and the components of the Getaway Kit.

Now take a look inside the parent guide.

Passport to Purity Parent's Guide
You can see it has a detailed list of supplies to gather.  Also, this page talks about a note you will write to your child.  Instead of just saying write a note you can see that there is so much help that you will not agonize over a blank page.

Your child will also have an easy time completing their journal.  They can simply fill in blanks, or they can fill margins.

There are also resources and blank pages so every type of kid can make it their own.  It is meant to be kept and looked back upon.  There are also additional devotions meant to be used after the weekend is over.

The talks are interesting, engaging, and go beyond the obvious birds and the bees topics.  The plan is to instill moral integrity into the participants so that they not only understand chastity, but embody Christianity in their hearts and in their minds.

Here is how the course breaks down:
Session 1: Beginning the Journey - Challenges, Traps, and Choices
Session 2: Running With The Herd - Friendships and Peer Pressure
Session 3: Ready For An Upgrade? - Changes in Him, Changes in Her
Session 4: Destination: Lé Pure - Setting Boundaries
Session 5: Crossing The Date Line - Seeing Dating Differently
There are different talks for boys than there are for girls, but the message is consistent.  There are also some Scripture memory songs provided by SEEDS Family Worship.

Give your child this gift of time and attention now so that as they grow and their innocence is assaulted they will have not only the tools that the CDs provide, but the knowledge that their parents have their back.  A weekend together like this can strengthen your bond and show them that there is nothing they cannot discuss with you.

If you order now through August 31, 2015 you can use the promo code PASSPORT for 25% off of the purchase price.
