One of the things I like about contemporary praise and worship music is that it allows me to reflect quietly or to join with a multitude of voices in prayer.  Although my time alone in personal reflection and prayer is an important part of every day, it can be really heart stirring to share my love of The Lord with others as well.  Whether it is with a handful of friends, a few hundred faithful, or even in a large arena with thousands, music can connect us.

Have you ever been to a big conference?  It's quite something!  One of the biggest non denominational gatherings you could be a part of is a Passion Conference.

The Passion Movement began in the late 1990's as a grassroots effort headed by Louie and Shelley Giglio.  It sure has grown since then!  This January over 32,000 people brought in the New Year at a sold out arena in Georgia.  They sang and they prayed in unison while led by some of the world's favorite Christian musicians and worship leaders.  It is difficult not to be moved by such an experience. Unfortunately life goes on after the gatherings end and it's not easy trying to bring Jesus in the world where people cut us off in traffic, bills pile up, and our social media is full of bickering.

When I start to feel the stress building up I try to stop, make a cup of tea, and get right with Him again.  Sometimes I will play music that brings my heart back to a place of gratitude and praise.  This week I have been listening to tracks from the Whole Heart CD which was recorded at the above mentioned conference.

Personally, I have been struggling with respiratory issues since late November.  I will be honest, some days it feels so overwhelming.  It is probably not a surprise that my go to song at the moment is Great Are you Lord.  It's just lovely, and I find it so easy to meditate on the lyrics; especially this part which is repeated throughout the piece.
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only
What a comfort!  Such a simple and calming thought, isn't it?

There are ten more tracks and they are all live versions recorded right at the conference. You can download your favorites or buy the whole CD.  You can listen to small samples on iTunes before you buy, or check out some of the videos posted on Passion Vevo channel on YouTube.  Here is the title track, Whole Heart:
