Captain America was my absolute favorite movie this year, and every good movie deserves a complementary line of toys to go with it.

Hasbro has done a fantastic job.  We have been playing with the Captain America the First Avenger Disc Launching Shield, and the Captain America the First Avenger Hero Mask. We saw these in February when I attended the NYC Toy Fair. The movie was still months away from being released, so it was fun to get a sneak peek. The disc launcher runs on batteries and has 5 foam discs that can be launched up to 20 feet by squeezing a handle.  The discs are soft, so using them in the house is okay - but we hope for nice weather someday so that we can really let the discs fly!

There is one minor bit of assembly required for the launcher.  A handle needs to be applied to the shield.  It simply snaps on, no tools required. (Although a screwdriver is needed to place the batteries.) When you are set to go, it's easy to use.  Load the discs into the compartment on the front of the shield, turn it on, squeeze a handle and let them soar.

The mask is comfortable.  The eye area is padded which makes it softer on the face.  The strap is Velcro, and adjusts to heads from age 5 to adult.

Here are the boys using both toys.

The disc launcher motor makes a little bit of noise, and takes 4 AA batteries to operate.

We were given these toys in order to write an informed blogged review.  I was not paid to write this post and my opinions are my own.
