Are you familiar with The 5 Love Languages®? The author, Dr. Gary Chapman wrote a very successful book explaining his idea that people have different "Love Languages".  He feels that when we learn and understand our own, and the those of the people around us, we are able to give and receive love easier, and live more harmonious lives.

Since we all begin our lives as children, it only makes sense that children would also have their own personal love languages. To help kids learn about them, gently discover their own, and also recognize their parents' and siblings' love language,  Dr. Chapman teamed up with Rick Osborne and wrote this sweet children's book A Perfect Pet for Peyton. Wilson Williams Jr. adds fun, colorful illustrations to help bring the characters to life, and add an interactive element to the story.

The book, best read with a parent, introduces children to five youngsters. Each boy or girl demonstrates one of the five love languages. Peyton and Penny are twins who are celebrating a birthday. Peyton loves to show love by helping others, and feels best when friends or family reciprocate with kind gestures. Penny loves to spend time with the people she cares about, and is pleased when they take time to visit with her. Penny's friend Jayla expresses her love with compliments and kind words. Peyton's friend Kevin likes giving gifts, while Sofia needs hugs and physical signs of affection.

This special birthday spent with friends and animals reveals the Love Language of each child, and their "perfect pet".

The book closes with guidelines for parents, and a quiz for children so they can learn their own love language, and reflect on how God makes each of us unique, and special. It is a very sweet and affirming book, and perfect for quiet together times.
