Highlights From The Time to Play Spring Showcase @TimeToPlay

It's probably obvious that I love to blog about toys.  A few weeks ago, I was thrilled to attend a press event with TimetoPlayMag.com.  Have you seen their website?  It's so much fun.  They provide independent reviews on children’s toys, games, and family entertainment, helping consumers make great choices.

At the event, the Spring 2012 Most Wanted list was unveiled - 15 toys that Jim Silver, editor in chief, and Chris Byrne, content director (aka The Toy Guy®) predict will be flying off the shelves this season.  Each toy was brought out and displayed while the editors explained why they felt each would be a big winner.

Afterward, the guests enjoyed a few hours of visiting with the vendors, playing with toys, and getting caught up on what to expect from some of our favorite companies this year,
“Movie-based toys and outdoor playthings are very important categories in the toy business," said Jim Silver, editor in chief TimetoPlayMag.com. “Together they account for billions of dollars of added revenue in a period typically considered the ‘off season’ for the toy industry.”
“Value continues to be critical to the toy business as parents seek out toys that offer affordability and repeat play,” said Chris Byrne, content director TimetoPlayMag.com aka The Toy Guy®. “Manufacturers are providing that value with blockbuster movie tie-ins, line extensions for popular brands, and toys that inspire active play.”
