I recently received a Rubbermaid Sandwich LunchBlox Kit to try out at home.  I liked the idea of the kit before I even took it out of the box.  I could see the pieces all fit together nicely, and were designed for healthy portion sizes.

I thought back to the school lunches of my youth.  Peanut butter and jelly sandwich that had inevitably been smashed by an apple, and cookies or chips that had been cracked or crushed were not very appetizing.

The LunchBlox™ kits are a great way to keep soft food safe, crispy food crisp, and delicate items in one piece.  The ice pack also keeps everything cool and fresh, so tuna salad won't be a science experiment by lunch time, either.

In the photo below you can see each of the pieces in the kit.  There is a sandwich container, a side container, two snack containers, and the blue ice pack.  The lids are designed to snap together so that once lunch is packed, it can all be configured into one neat, space saving unit.

In the second photo, I have packed a lunch.  The sandwich is made on specialty bread, and fits in the container, although a bit snugly.  I used the side container for chips, but it would also work well for a pasta, potato, or similar salad.  I used one snack container for fresh blueberries and the other for cookies.

As you can see, they all fit in their respective containers quite nicely - and when snapped together (photo 3) the entire lunch is in a compact, space saving block.   I had mentioned that the sandwich was a bit snug, but that was not a problem, either.  I turned the sandwich container upside down, and carefully unsnapped the lid as you can see it the last picture above.

If you prefer a salad for lunch, notice the set up depicted below.  It allows you to keep greens fresh and cool in one area while the add ins and dressing are stored their own compartments until they are ready to be tossed together.  There is also an entree kit (not shown) that works well for re-heatable meals with sides.

I also like the look of the carrying cases designed specifically for this product line.  There is a space to put utensils and a napkin, and side pockets for beverages.  These insulated bags are just the right size for an entree kit, or as seen here for a sandwich or salad kit.

If you like to prepare meals ahead of time, the pieces can be stored safely in the freezer.  If food needs to be heated, they are also microwave safe.  When it is time to clean up, the dishwasher is just fine.  Each piece is also BPA free.
