When a fifteen year old friend of Kirk Cameron's died he briefly understood the question that so many non believers often ask Christians.  If there is a God, why do good people suffer?

It is hard to come to grips with the fact that innocent children die, good people experience painful illnesses, and random senseless accidents happen.

While he was going through his own grieving, he started writing Unstoppable.  The movie gives details about The Fall and our redemption through the Passion of Jesus Christ.  While I would not suggest offering it to a person who is in the throes of grief, it is a good primer for anyone who may not know or understand the Bible.

The move is Dove Family Approved, but I want to caution parents - the theatrical recreation of Biblical scenes are a little bit graphic.  The Fall is depicted darkly (as it should be) and there is a lot of time spent looking at Abel lying dead in a pool of his own blood after Cain killed him.  There are also scenes of the young boy's coffin, the mourners at his funeral, and discussion about when he knew he was losing his fight to stay a part of this world.

With that in mind, here is the trailer which will give you a feel for the movie:

The movie switches from black and white to color, uses modern music, jump stops, and strong visuals.  It is meant to be kind of edgy.  It will probably appeal to teens and young adults the most.  The delivery is evangelical born-again Christian style and it is a documentary.

The movie had a one night showing in theaters in September.  You may have heard about it in the news because some social media outlets were not allowing the film trailer to be seen on their websites.  Despite the controversy the single night event was enormously popular.  Since then many have been anxiously awaiting the DVD release.  This week it is finally available for purchase.

The website also has material to download for sermons or discussion guides if your church does that sort of event.  Be sure to get a license for a public viewing outside of the home.  This is required even if there is no admission fee.

I have been given the opportunity to offer a copy of  Unstoppable for a blog giveaway.  The form below will provide the opportunity to enter using several methods.  I know that many of you will try to win a copy of the movie on several blogs and that is fine, but there will only be one winner allowed per household.  If you win on more than one blog, the company will ask me to draw a new name.
a Rafflecopter giveaway

A final note - this post is strictly a place for my comments and a giveaway opportunity for people who would like to try to win the film.  It is not an invitation to theological debate or a place to leave derogatory remarks.  I do moderate all comments and I delete the ones that are abusive or offensive.

Good luck!
