red wine sangria
Are you planning a summer party for a grown up crowd?

If you are looking for a nice beverage choice, you may want to consider this red wine sangria recipe. It has become a favorite of my friends and family, and I am often asked to bring it to barbecues and parties.

Red Wine Sangria
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup of frozen lemonade concentrate
  • 1/3 cup of orange juice
  • 750 ml of dry red wine
  • 1/2 cup triple sec
  • 1/2 cup of brandy
  • fresh fruit
  • a large decorative pitcher
  • 1 liter of lemon-lime soda or citrus flavored seltzer

First assemble all of the ingredients:

Sangria ingredients

In a large pitcher, combine lemon juice, lemonade concentrate, orange juice, wine, triple sec, brandy, and fruit.
Cover, and place in the refrigerator to chill for at least 4 hours. I like to leave it overnight. Chill the soda or seltzer as well.

Sangria, step one

Just before serving, add the soda or seltzer. This is a strong recipe, so don't be shy about adding the whole liter. (or more)
Cut some orange slices, strawberry or fresh pineapple for garnish.

Sangria step 2
The finished product looks very nice, doesn't it?
