Holiday Bliss ~ December 11th

Holiday Bliss

Today I will share an easy, (although a bit messy) cookie recipe.  (Gluten Free people, read till the end of the post!)  These will impress your friends and family, and they look so pretty!  They also offer all sorts of tweakability (something most of us love) and a chance to be as creative as you'd like to be.

OREO TRUFFLES

You will need:

ONE package of Double Stuff Oreos
ONE package of cream Cheese (room temperature)
ONE package of chocolate chips
ONE stick of butter
  • Crush the Oreos until they are well broken.
  • Add in the cream cheese, and blend well.
  • Put the mixture in the refrigerator for about an hour.
  • After it's chilled, roll the mixture into small balls, and place on a cookie tray lined with waxed paper.
  • Return them to the fridge.
  • Melt the chocolate chips and the butter together.
  • Take the prepared balls out of the fridge and coat them in the chocolate mixture.
  • Garnish as desired.
The easiest garnish is to add something sprinkly before the chocolate sets.

I add food color to icing and drizzle it like this:

Oreo Truffles

The possibilities are pretty wide open.  I have even seen these dipped in white chocolate, stacked and made into snowmen.  You may also use cake, brownies, or other cookies as the filling, and any flavor baking chip as the shell.

GLUTEN FREE VERSION:  Make your favorite gluten free cake or brownies.  Take pieces of the prepared cake, and break them up as a substitute for the Oreos.   These would not be casein free, however.
