Lent, Day 3

Today is the third  day of Lent.  Being the first Friday, the  focus was on the practice of fasting.  Why do we fast?    Put simply, it is easier to fill an empty vessel.   Feelings of hunger can be turned into a prayer asking God to fill my heart, and keep my sights fixed upon the reward of eternal life rather than earthly things.
